Olivia Smoliga

Olivia Smoliga has been a United States swimming superstar since high school. The Illinois native made history as the first female high schooler to break the 22-second barrier in the 50-yard freestyle.

Building on her early success, Smoliga set the NCAA Record in the 50-yard freestyle during her collegiate career at the University of Georgia under legendary coach Jack Bauerle. She was a three-time NCAA Champion, a 16-time SEC Champion, and earned the prestigious title of SEC Athlete of the Year in her senior year.

Smoliga qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in the 100-meter backstroke and brought home a gold medal as part of Team USA's 4x100m medley relay. In 2021, she added to her Olympic success with a bronze medal in the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay at the Tokyo Games.

At the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, Smoliga further solidified her reputation as a team leader and competitor, earning silver medals in the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay and the Mixed 4x100m Freestyle Relay.

One of Olivia's most iconic achievements came at the 2018 Short Course World Championships in Hangzhou, China, where she made history by winning a record eight gold medals—the most ever won by a swimmer at a single Short Course World Championships. Her 14 World Championship titles cement her legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Empowering the Next Generation

With a career defined by excellence and perseverance, Olivia Smoliga is now sharing her passion and knowledge with the next generation of swimmers. In January 2025, she launched the In Depth Swim Academy, an innovative program designed for swimmers aged 9 to 18.

The academy blends elite technical swim clinics with workshops that emphasize mental and physical mastery. Young athletes work directly with Olivia, receiving personalized instruction on stroke mechanics, starts, and turns. The program also includes sessions on goal setting, visualization, recovery, and resilience, equipping swimmers with tools to excel both in and out of the water.

Through the In Depth Swim Academy, Olivia aims to inspire and empower young athletes, fostering a supportive environment where swimmers can grow into the best version of themselves.
